Royal Brompton Hospital

Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in the whole of Europe.

The trust works from two main sites, Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea and Harefield Hospital near Uxbridge. ICW Powermode had the privilege of supplying Main Intake Switchgear to both sites.

The Trust had a requirement to upgrade the existing infrastructure ta a more reliable 5 MVA supply to accommodate new state of the art medical system and service.

Utilising the existing space constraints ICW Powermode undertook the design and staging of implementing and manufacturing two new 2.5 MVA Cast Resin Transformers, Busbar Interconnections, 1 No Main 4000A L.V Switchboard and a Generator Sychronisation Switchboard together with PLC and programming to ensure backup and seamless G59 return connection.

The staging and site planning had to ensure continued supplies to the hospital throughout each phase of the works. The contract was completed and signed off within the given 16 week manufacturing period.
