ICW Powermode were employed to Design, Supply, Co-ordinate, Manufacture, Install, Commission the complete power system package.

Our obligations included the successful implementation of all controls associated with the back-up services required for this Tier 3 build.

ICW Powermode’s pro-active project management style gained accolades from our client. The timelines as requested from the onset were met without exception. The contractual obligation included:

• 11kV Switchgear for two 10MVA Utility Supplies.
• 11kV Synchronisation Switchgear for 6 No 2.5MVA Generator Sets.
• 5No 3/4MVA Force Cooled 11,000/417V, K13 Enclosed Cast Resin Transformers.
• 5No 6000A UPS Input/Output Switchboards for Mechanical and IT Loads.
• Interconnecting Busbar, Rising Busbar and Tap-Offs.
• SCADA Software and EMS Overview with Data/Trend logging.

The remit also included a fully comprehensive grading study which detailed and described all calculations needed to ensure design integrity and a system fit for purpose. Aspects covered were:

• Fault Level Calculation and Clearance Times.
• O/C & E.F Grading, Directional and 2nd Harmonic Blocking.
• Neutral/Earth Resistance Sizing.
• Alternator Decrement Curves.
• Bias Differential Settings.
• Bus Zone Settings.
• Zone Protection Application.
• Discrimination proof table.

The SCADA system installed at the customers site acts as a central point for monitoring the Datacentre’s critical electrical infrastructure. It uses multiple intuitive displays and common fault reporting to allow the many diverse systems to be simultaneously monitored by one operator. The system is based on controllers embedded in the switch panels which allows for a fast install with a minimum of cabling.
